The sign G.5.1c can be used on bridges to indicate that a certain part of the span has more vertical clearance than the height scale indicates. In practice, the application of two height scales per sailing direction, in combination with reference marks, will provide a clearer picture for the waterway user are preferable.

In view of the possible danger in case of incorrect reading, for example confusion with the overheight sign, the use of the underheight sign is not recommended.
