Easy and fast with our rumble strip machine

The work of the road worker is a lot safer thanks to the new development in the field of laying rumble strips. This development involves working first in a manual way, while this is now done in a mechanical way. Traffic Safety Systems, commissioned by Rijkswaterstaat Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment, has developed a handy and compact device that can be connected to a standard DIN plate on the front of a truck.

Rumble Strips in operation

By means of hydraulic/magnetic or hydraulic/pneumatic action, the strips are automatically removed from the warehouse and placed on the road surface. With the aid of a camera and monitor, the strips (even if they have shifted and/or twisted) can of course be picked up again from the road surface. The road worker sits safely in the driver's cab during this job. In combination with a crash cushion at the rear of the truck, pick & place rumble strips can be carried out quickly and safely by 1 person.

Rumble Strips in the C.R.O.W. guidelines 2020

16 years ago we developed the Rumble Strip Pick & Place Machine as a result of an innovative tender for "alternative rumble strips" from Rijkswaterstaat. It took a while, but in 2020 the Rumble Strip Pick & Place Machine will be included in the new C.R.O.W. Guidelines Measures on motorways 2020 Work in progress 96a. Based on the experiences and wishes of drivers, we have greatly improved our Rumble Strip Machine on a number of points. For example, the rumble strips are now placed and picked up fully automatically, even if they are twisted or shifted. This allows the driver of the truck mounted attenuator to keep the focus on the traffic behind. The entire process is monitored and secured on all parts. Our Rumble Strip Machine can be easily mounted on the DIN plate of the truck. The rumble strip machine complies with the Vehicle Regulations "removable worn equipment" of the RDW.
